Setup process steps and timeframe

This page tells you how to take care of setting up your Styla Frontend step by step so that you can understand the scope of the project and plan the work in your team. The tasks in the table below link to subpages in this documentation that describe the specific steps. Goals

The goal of this process is for you to deliver your e-commerce website with Styla Frontend, Especially that:

  • Your content looks like how want it to look,

  • You have all the pages you need (including those for product details and categories) on correct URLs.

  • End-users can purchase your products and orders land in your “headless“ shop.

  • You can update the content or appearance easily in the future.

Timeframe

The setup process will take 1-2 months. The exact duration will depend mostly on the scope of customisation your Frontend will need and resources and priorities on your end. Th setup will take less time especially if you decide to go-live with an MVP and customise it later on.

In order to plan your project, take a look at the steps listed below. They should serve you as a top-level work breakdown structure, and let you schedule specific tasks.

The steps

You should go through the below steps to have a fully-functional Styla Frontend setup:

  1. Create your organization, front(s) and user(s).

  2. Set up CSS/style UI elements in your front(s).

  3. Connect to your BigCommerce API so that your front(s) deliver product and category pages.

  4. Set up your page bases.

  5. Create your content pages using the Editor.

  6. Place slots with Modular Content on your pages and bases (only if needed).

  7. Create Custom Modules and place them on your pages (only if needed).

  8. Set up integrations with external APIs or include external content (only if needed).

  9. Configure source of indexes for product and content search results.

  10. Configure PWA metadata and service worker.

  11. Point your production domain to your Styla Frontend (going live).

  12. Set up 301 redirects from URLs on an older website (only if needed).
